A Wind at the Primo Cup

Monaco: The 24th edition of the Primo Cup was held, once again, in the best of conditions. Sun, wind, more than two hundred boats out on the water subdivided into 13 classes, over 1000 sailors who grafted hard over the first two week-ends in February.
A double success for SLAM which, apart from being the event's “Official Supplier” (as it has been for over 20 years thanks to the by now strong ties it has with the Monaco Yacht Club) had a win in the new Melges 32 class with Kismet-SLAM owned by the Leporati brothers.
Added to the strengths of Franceso Bruni (ex Luna Rossa and Italian Olympic athlete in the Laser and 49er classes) on tactics, the Kismet crew wore Navigator shoes, “Albatron” softshell sweatshirts and black “Boa Bunda” pants. Kismet chalked up one first place, three second places and two third places, which allowed it to beat, by just one point, the world leader in the Melges 24 rankings, Lorenzo Bressani. All winners received SLAM prizes such as the much sought after “Racing New Jacket” oilskin, “ATS Spray Top” and “Denis Winter Jacket”. |

Macalzone 2nd, Fiamma 5th at Key West

Key West : Many crews wore the RC Spray Top and Long John in the seas off Key West for the 2008 edition of Sailing Week which has just ended. And two boats flying SLAM colours were among the top five in the Farr 40 class. The following are the brilliant results from Key West '08: Mascalzone Latino-Capitalia Team finished second, on equal points with “Barking Mad” (winner of the final trial which stole the prize for 1st place from Vincenzo Onorato). A step up this year for Alessandro Barnaba's “Fiamma” which ended the event in 5th place, having had regularly good placings, apart from two less favourable trials which cost them precious points in the final rankings.
SLAM, Gold Platinum Partner for the event, was present not only out on the water, with the many teams wearing clothing from its “Advanced” collection, but also with a sales outlet which sold event branded goods, being also the event's Official Gear supplier and Licensee. |
